Induction and such
I was 268.0 even today, so the weight is still coming off. I've been good with my portions and my food selections, though I need to stay away from the peanuts at work. It's a little known fact that the only reason nuts are not part of induction is because people typically have a hard time controlling portion size when eating them. I fell into that a little yesterday but was still able to keep my carbs below 20. I went for a swim yesterday. I'm guessing that the pool at my gyn is about a 1/4 the length of an olympic pool, I swam 5 times "there and back" so probably 2 and a half good laps. I'll have to get better math on the length of the pool. I set out to do 10 laps down and back, and to not jump in too hard, wear myself out (turn into a warewolf) and then stop going, so part of my plan was to work to exhaustion and not push past it. It was clear after my first lap that 5 was going to be my number and not 10. I do the first part of the lap down arms only legs still and the second part legs only arms still. I'm still a strong enough swimmer that I can manage that and it really helped to tire me out. By the fifth lap I was using arms and legs and I was quite winded. Age and inactivity have really taken their toll. I remember when I was a teen, I could follow my friends behind the raft and make the swim from Leddy Beach to North Beach. I'll get back there. I'm having to go back on meds for my blood sugar. I met with the Endocrinologist and they explained why my sugar is high and why taking meds for it at this time is so important. I hope to eventually control my sugar with diet and exercise but I'm going to have to be more patient and let the meds take some of the work load off my pancreas while I work off the pounds. So for the first time in this diet phase I am setting a target weight -- 240lbs. That will be my first marker for success. It's 28lbs away and should be a very reachable goal. It will also be the thinest my wife has ever seen me. Soon it will be me slaying the dragon... Until then...
